William Henry - Lost Symbols

Coast to Coast AM on 2009/09/22: Investigative mythologist and author William Henry talked about the significance of the art and symbols in the U.S. Capitol. The Capitol was thought of as a recreation of Solomon's Temple by its builders, Freemasons, who conceived of the building as a "beehive" buzzing with energy, he said. Higher wisdom flows through the Capitol's spiritual imagery, particularly in the painting, The Apotheosis of Washington, which is featured in the dome of the Rotunda, he shared, adding that the dome of the Capitol is a mirror image of the one in the Vatican. The painting depicts the first President as a deified being along with five pagan gods who are symbols for alchemy.

He noted that a scene in Dan Brown's new bestseller, The Lost Symbol, features a character staring up into the Capitol dome and seeing the painting transform into a gateway. This imagery shares similarities to Henry's work into stargates or portals, which he believes humans can ascend to higher consciousness. The bell-shaped Capitol Dome could be thought of as a kind of stupa that creates a vortex or field of energy, he continued.

Interestingly, Henry detailed that the Capitol contains a "crypt", one story beneath the Rotunda. It has 40 columns and was modeled after the ancient Temple of Poseidon - this was a way for the United States to pay homage to Atlantis, he commented.

Culture Is Your Opreating System

Terrance McKenna shares his opinions on the true self. "When you shed the cultural operating system, then essentially you stand naked before the inspection of your own psyche... It's from that position outside the cultural operating system that we can begin to ask real questions about, what does it mean to be human, what kind of circumstance are we caught in, and what kind of structures if any can we put in place to assuage the pain and accentuate the glory, and the wonder, that lurks waiting for us, in this very narrow slice of time between the birth canal and the yawning grave?" - Terrance McKenna

The Legend of Atlantis - It's Time to Wake Up

Eric Von Daniken, an author and specialist in extraterrestrial visits, that took place thousands of years ago, organizes the evolutionary consciousness of this earth and shows us the spiritual evolution made as multidimensional beings of light. "The profits, high priests, and magicians of all time, have been the souls of fallen gods. Yet all this was part of the creators plan, and these souls have made a voluntary sacrifice for the maturing human kind, in order to provide it with a light on its path of becoming human and to the godly father."

"Once upon a time there existed, on earth, a high culture whose people were filled with a spirit that knew all of the mysteries of creation. These secrets of creation were revealed to them because they lived in harmony with the laws. when human beings chose to live in wholeness and harmony with the purpose of their spirit and soul. This choice opens the doors to a higher perception and the universal spirit offers the truth of life through divine inspiration. The result is global enlightenment and civilization develops." - Eric Von Daniken

The Power of Myth

Herein lies The Power of Myth, showing how humans are apt to create and live out the themes of mythology. Based on a six-part PBS television series hosted by Bill Moyers, this classic is especially compelling because of its engaging question-and-answer format, creating an easy, conversational approach to complicated and esoteric topics. For example, when discussing the mythology of heroes, Campbell and Moyers smoothly segue from the Sumerian sky goddess Inanna to Star Wars' mercenary-turned-hero, Han Solo. Most impressive is Campbell's encyclopedic knowledge of myths, demonstrated in his ability to recall the details and archetypes of almost any story, from any point and history, and translate it into a lesson for spiritual living in the here and now.

Return to the Source: Philosophy & the Matrix

To gain a real understanding of the Matrix Series, especially parts 2 and 3, one really must have at least some understanding of the philosophical and religious aspects of the story. Without this basic grounding, the last two films become a mish-mash of mumbo jumbo. This documentary goes a fair way towards explaining some of the philosophy behind the films. Here we have a wealth of philosophers and teachers that lend their thoughts and expertise to the viewer so that they may get a better understanding of what's behind the films.

The Hard Problem: The Science Behind the Fiction

This video separates The Matrix Trilogy and explains the beliefs structures, religions and philosophies that are woven into the movies. It uses the writers' and directors' own movie to show their alternate agenda. These featurettes are a series of interviews with various professors and teachers, all leaders in their fields. They delve into the deeper aspects of the Matrix series and show, where the influences may have came from and what are the real possibilities of something like the Matrix ever existing, or indeed presently existing. The first of these featurettes is 'Return to the Source: Philosophy & The Matrix' which looks at the various philosophical aspects of the films, from the psychological to the religious. The second documentary is 'The Hard Problem: The Science Behind the Fiction'. This looks at the science and technology that would be behind the Matrix, as if it were a real possibility.

The key to understanding the entire Matrix Trilogy lies in the understanding of the philosophical, religious, psychological and scientific theories that make up the key concepts in the series. These two documentaries go a long way towards making the trilogy make sense.
